In late 2013, Geographx designed and produced from scratch, a new series of print maps covering the nine Great Walks managed by the NZ Department of Conservation. This was the first time that Geographx had produced maps specifically for use in the field.

The presentation looks at the reasons why. It then describes how the project evolved, from intitial thoughts on map design through to final production. Issues met and resolved along the way will be discussed. While the emphasis is on map design and cartography the talk will also cover printing, distribution, marketing and sales. It is, in essence, the story of how a new print map series came into being, from genesis to publication.
