This presentation will give a brief history of Land Information New Zealand (LINZ’s) NZTopo50 and NZTopo250 map series. It will cover where and how the digital data was originally sourced. How and why LINZ brought the map production and data maintenance in-house. Included in the presentation will be the work that LINZ has been undertaking since Sept 2009 in regards to the updating and maintenance of the digital data. Also included will be the thinking’s behind the release of the digital map products and production of the paper map. The presentation will also touch on map sale trends since the introduction of the new map series.
