This paper presents a synopsis of my book, Map Worlds, offers a sociological perspective found in the book that seeks to illumine the participation of women in the world of cartographers, and offers two vignettes that illustrate such participation, namely those of the intrepid Mina Hubbard, mapper of Labrador, and of Marie Tharp, the ‘Dame of Ocean Cartography’.
